At last Nations are coming together to take Plastic Pollution very seriously.
However, in 2020, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Members launched in November an initiative to find better methods in addressing plastic pollution.
This is an environment issue globally and needs clarity, as to how different sectors can contribute to its reduction.
A practical solution that E2E London totally agrees with – a The Dialogue on Plastic Pollution. (DPP). This was opened to all WTO Members to discuss Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade with the Committee on Trade and Environment (CET) and other forums.
Moving forward from the talking is the Annual Trade in plastics , accounts for 5% of global trade – or 1.2 trillion US Dollars in 2020. – almost 40% higher than previous estimates.
The challenge we have with plastics is that there is ”hidden flows” of plastics unaccounted for ( e.g plastics embedded in traded goods and not classified as so).
This is costly and misleading for statistical analysis, if not identified.
It estimates 369 million metric tonnes of plastic, crossing borders multiple times in a plastics life cycle.
This includes the primary stage to intermediate and final goods .
Progress includes 220 trade related measure to address this challenge by 85 different WTO Members.
E2E London Solutions -approach is to continue to create platforms for DIALOGUE.
As part of our business model while connected to the World Strategic Intelligence Platform.
E2E London intends to continue to encourage more local authorities, businesses, communities and countries to collaborate and make cost-effective adjustments to minimise plastic pollution.
The good news is that at lest the 175 Members of the United Nations and other EU countries are meeting from the 5-14 August 2025 in Geneva.
Firstly, to tackling the source of plastic pollution and secondly. creating a legal treaty that will bind the targets set on this global dilemma.
